welcome 👋
Thank you so much for taking the time to be here!
When I started my business (nearly three years ago now 😳) I set out with the intention of creating a community that I so desperately desired and needed when I found myself going through pregnancy loss.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to spend the last few years connecting with, and deepening my connection, to my local community.
It’s been an honour to hold space for women navigating pregnancy, childbirth, pregnancy loss and postpartum.
During this time of holding space, listening to and witnessing the most intimate and raw human experiences, I’ve had this quiet inner voice steadily grow louder and louder, and to be honest, at this point I would have a hard time ignoring its knowing.
”WOMEN DESERVE BETTER” is the mantra, over and over, women deserve better, women deserve better, women deserve better! It’s like a heartbeat pulsing through my veins, and I can no longer hold this knowing inside of me and continue to step into these lives and homes and spaces without acting on it further.
I say further, only because it seems to be the foundation of “women deserve better” that catapults most doulas into this world. We KNOW women deserve better, which is why we are boots on the ground, advocating and educating, always.
However this work needs further reach - having a doula is not always accessible for a myriad of reasons, so getting this information into the hands of mothers is imperative to them showing up ready to birth their baby with knowledge, understanding, autonomy and a whole freakin’ lot of girl power!
So what now?
As a self confessed nerd about all things anatomy, pranayama, mindset and nervous system health, I straddle these two worlds of yoga and birth and it doesn’t take a genius to realize that the overlap between the two is immense.
When we start to view childbirth (or the birth of any stage pregnancy be it early or full term) as both a spiritual and physiological event in the body we can approach it with a broader understanding, more grounded and trusting of our bodies, and with SO many more tools and resources we can pull from.
I have spent the better part of the last year, building a childbirth education course that I am excited to launch in the coming months. This labour of love has been an effort of pulling together all of the information, tools and resources a pregnant person/couple could ever need as they start to envision and work towards the birth they desire - think, mindset practices, breathwork, partner support, holistic and medical pain management options, what advocacy looks like, your options for both home and hospital birth plus so, so, so much more!
In the mean time, when I’m not putting the finishing touches on this course, I am challenging myself to show up more online (hi 👋👩🏻💻). As a perfectionist it can be challenging to show up in real time at the risk of things not being perfect or seamless, but a friend reminded me this week that “its okay for things to be messy”, and while that really shouldn’t have been an earth shattering revelation to me, it was. So I’m sharing it here, in case you needed to hear that too.
Less thinking, more being.
It would be a dream if you dropped into the comments and said hello and let me know what you are currently working on!
I hope you stick around,
